Being good to all
珍·古道尔博士致"初中版"读者:行动起来,保护环境。每个人都能发挥作用!

FENG Miao, a Junior 3 student at Tianjin No 90 Middle School, has an unusual hobby: she makes fruit using waste paper!

Why? Not because she's poor. But because she's a member of her school's Roots and Shoots (根与芽) group.

Roots and Shoots groups try to make people care for the environment, animals and each other.

Feng's group makes paper fruit to show people they must care for the environment.

Last week, Feng's group was praised (赞扬) by Dr Jane Goodall, the British scientist who started Roots and Shoots in 1991.

"They made such beautiful fruits! What a great way to tell people about environmental protection (环境保护)," said Jane.

Jane was in Beijing meeting Roots and Shoots groups from all over the country.

"I am happy to see more Chinese students are joining Roots and Shoots. They're creative (有创造力的) people. And they're making the world a better place to live in," said Jane.

Feng and her friends are certainly making the world a better place.

They're working hard to make sure their school recycles (再循环) everything it can. And they ask people in supermarkets to reuse bags.
